Scathing report into the death in custody of Cameron Doomadgee

It has been one of those weeks as far as the truth of serious law and order issues going awry. In the United Kingdom the Government finally acknowledged that the 1972 Bloody Sunday event happened at that the British Army indiscriminately fired on unarmed civilians on Bloody Sunday in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Here in Queensland Australia a damming deport has just been released into the conduct of police officers covering an investigation into a police death-in-custody.

A Few weeks ago I wrote about the disgraceful record that police have when it comes to Aboriginal Deaths in Custody. The State in which I live is especially negligent. You can read more on the story by reading the words highlighted in blue here- Cameron Doomadgee died as a result of injuries which can only be put down as a serious assault. Inquiry conducted by the Internal Investigation division of the Queensland Police Service was somehow able to clear the Sergeant involved an come up with a finding that the injuries and death were accidental. Subsequent inquiries by Coroner both found against the Police involved at the time of Cameron Doomadgee death

A Crime and Misconduct report into the handling of the investigation of the unusual death in custody was handed down today and was scathing in the way the which the police endeavoured to cover up the fatal incident in 2004. Justice Moynihan found there was a deliberate attempt to cover up and lie as tho the conduct and the truth surrounding the death in custody of Aboriginal Cameron Doomadgee on Palm Island. The commissioner talked about a "closed, self-protecting culture" within the investigating division of the Queensland Police Service. Disciplinary action has been recommended against six officers involved in the cover-up. an Aboriginal spokesman said that they should face criminal sanctions and that the Police Commissioner should resign.

  • British Shops. Famous English Stores

Winston Churchill once said Britain was a nation of shopkeepers. In fact Britain has become known for its vast array of quality shops. Most famous of course are Harrods, Marks & Spencer. As well as a number of others. Quality merchandise seem to set them apart. - 2 years ago
