Brisbane Bookshops . Best Bookstores around Brisbane- Brisbane just like many other Cities around Australia and indeed the World has a good selection of great bookshops. When I mean great bookshops i mean really good ones that have dedicated staff that want to provide you with excellent service. The recent Brisbane Writers Festival with its record attendances shows how writing and books are still strong pastime for so many Australians.

Amid the now growing number of launches of e Books & e Readers including the IPad, Kindle, and others there is much speculation at the demise of the bookshop especially the Independent Bookshops. I say no there are too many book lovers that want to go to these Independent stores and buy good books for good reading. People really like the easy practical aspect of being able to pick up and put down a book any time they want rather than scrolling though pages on a shiny screen. For me I hope this does not change.

Avid Reader is one of Brisbane's favourite Boutique bookshops an up to date carefully selected array of good reading is held at the store. As the name suggests the owner and staff are avid readers and as such this is reflected in the customer service that is delivered. On a regular basis they have guest speakers and authors along to conduct forums on a variety of topics related to books fiction and non-fiction. Located in the main street of West End it is a short bus ride or good stroll from the CBD.

Coaldrakes Bookshop carried a great range of books and has the advantage of being right next to a line of great coffee shops in Park Road, Milton.

Folio Books Albert Street Brisbane CBD.This is my and many others favourite Brisbanites Bookshop. in  central Brisbane, it has an extensive range of current international titles especially on politics and biography's.  The variety and vast array really exceeds all expectations.  As well Folio has an array of Art books and Architecture that you just wont see anywhere else.

American Bookstore another great bookshop in the Central Brisbane CBD in Elizabeth street opposite the Hilton hotel. Great range of text books and books on vintage cars. Lots of other topics.

Borders- This is one of the larger chain type multi-floor better bookshops in Brisbane. It contains books Magazines and DvDs. It has a very comprehensive Crime Novel sections as well as a lot of useful Language learning and travel sections. Situated in the centre of the CBD at the corner of Albert and Elizabeth Streets. Very popular Gloria Jeans Coffee Shop attached.

Archives Books is a popular longstanding second hand bookstore with lots of second hand book on every subject. Some of them fairly new as many a student has sold a book or two to put bread on the table. It contains lots of book on English Literature, Philosophy as well as many other text books from university.

I can't believe they left out The Really Good Book Shop at Hillcrest on the Southside. It is the best bookstore I have ever been to. I can't say enough good things about this store. You have to go there.
